Denotative Analysis
·         The main house colours of this magazine are red, yellow and white and Black
·       The main title is ‘kerrang’ is the same cracked font used multiple times in the magazine and it is known for the kerrang title.
·         The main image of the band, ‘my chemical romance’ is largely presented and covers the main title.
There are callouts and many extra smaller images placed around. The main image is a medium close up shot.

Connotative Analysis
·         The magazine heading is in a fixed location at the top of the page. Its color and font remains the same for every issue, helping to create a professional look and helping it to become well known and recognized.
·         The main colors are bright and visible. Bright colours suggest excitement and that this magazine is aimed at younger readers, one of the main colours is a striking yellow which suggests electrifying and alive.
· The main image makes the bands faces visible and their expressions are serious as it is about their career also the image positioning ensures that their faces are seen and seem iconic. The band members have a direct gaze towards the camera and this helps to bring the reader and the magazine together.
·         The bright yellow for the caption, ‘the return of my chemical romance,’ has a thunder bolt image behind. In this instance, the connotation could be that their return is going to be striking and shocking.
·         The callout, ‘poster special’ is a tease to engage readers for specific purposes. It uses the bright yellow to catch attention.
