Proposal

  • For my magazine I attend to have a rock music genre. It is aimed at people interested in this sort of music; also I am to focus on live performances so the audience will be involved and want to buy this magazine for information on live perfomances. I will try to make the contents intresting for example behind the scene reports of the live performances, and an inside to what the bands are like.
  • This magazine will seem rebellious and exciting so it is aimed for the young adults at 18-24 intrested in my genre of magazine which is rock/punk/indie etc, the predominant audience will be both female and male.
  • I think I will sell it to main supermarkets, like Asda abd Tesco, as these supermarkets provide a wide variety of magazines and will attract the customers that are my target audience. As these supermarkets have more of a range it will increase the profit of my magazine.

Colour Psychology

Colour Psychology - The Psychological Effects of Colour

While sometimes colour is used for viaual purposes, however there are some colour effects that have universal meaning. Colours in the red area of the color wheel are known as warm colors and include red, orange and yellow. These warm colors evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility.
Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference.
Colour wheel- that shows the emotion the colours create.

Mise-en-scene

Mise-en-scene: which means everything in the frame
It is basically matching everything up, so it fits in with the genre, for example:-

Costume:   - Choose carefully the style of hair, makeup and costume for all subjects in the photograph.

Location:   - Consider what image, mood or atmosphere you are trying to create. Select location with this in mind.

Lighting and Colour:   - Again, this should compliment mood and atmosphere, e.g sense of age, use sepia, vibrant energy choose primary colours, wealth or opulence, highlight golds, yellows and silvers, and sinister or macabre, blacks and purples.

Props:    - Part of the setting, these must compliment the intention, e.g a cup of tea in a delicate china teacup might not be the chosen drink of a drug-addled, heavy rock star.

When analysing any photographs or taking them, you must be able to explain the Mise-en-scene!
